Maths
In Maths we will be following the White Rose scheme of work starting with place value before moving on to addition and subtraction. We are aiming to improve our times table knowledge with regular practice and a login will go home for Times Tables Rockstar’s which is a great resource to help improve tables knowledge quickly. The children will also have a weekly session using Mathletics and will be given their details to be able to use their account at home if they wish.
English
In English we will be concentrating on recognising nouns and verbs before starting to write simple sentences and then moving on to using conjunctions. Our first book will be The Jolly Postman by Allan Ahlberg and we will use this to help us to write a letter.
Art
In Art we will be Developing our sketching and colour mixing skills linked to our Geography work on Manchester. We will be creating a textured piece representing Manchester today.
Geography
In Geography this half term will be based on Manchester and how it is changing. We will be looking at OS maps to look population and how it has changed.
PE
In PE Maples will be concentrating on developing our outdoor adventurous activities and problem-solving skills on a Tuesday. This will involve us developing our, team building, trust, listening and co-operation skills. Please can you make sure that you send a full PE kit into school with trainers, which will be sent home at the end of every half term.
We expect every child to read at home at least 4 times during the week. Children who achieve this will be rewarded with a weekly raffle ticket and will be entered into a prize draw at the end of term where there will be the opportunity to win a variety of prizes.
